Lush cosmetics are known for their magnificent collection of handmade cosmetics, made from natures finest ingredients. Their products are fantastic, not only because they smell great, but because they're fresh and contain minimum chemicals. The bonus? All their products are cruelty-free.
I recently purchased one of their face masks, called "mask of magnaminty" after being drawn to its fresh, earthy scent and colour.
The lid informs us that this "peppermint mask does everything it can to fight eruptions and outbreaks and returns your skin to tip top condition". I wanted a good face mask that I could use to deeply cleanse the build-up from my pores, allowing all the impurities to be drawn out.
Ingredients (as written on label):
Bentonite Gel, Kaolin, Honey, Talc, Ground Organic Aduki Beans (Phaseolus Angularis), Glycerine, Evening Primrose Seeds (Oenothera biennis), Peppermint Oil (Mentha piperita), African Marigold Oil (Tagetes erecta), Fair Trade Vanilla Asbolute, (Vanilla planifolia), Limonene, Perfume, Chlorophyllin (Cl 75810(, Methylparaben
I apply this face mask to a freshly cleansed face (rinsed with warm water to open up the pores). The mask is a thick, moist, paste-like texture that easily glides onto the face.
I love the cooling effect this mask has - you can feel the product refreshing your face. As the mask dries, the impurities from your pores absorb into the mask. I let my mask sit on my face for 20-30 minutes, before washing with cold water to seal the pores. As I'm washing the mask off, I thoroughly rub the mask into my face which gives me a nice exfoliation at the end of the treatment.
After a few weeks of regular usage (about once or twice a week), I have discovered that my skin is a lot smoother, and most of my breakouts have cleared.
What makes this mask so fantastic is the properties of the ingredients:
Kaolin Kaolin is a naturally occurring clay substance. Kaolin is used for caring, soothing and nourishing different skin types. It works by reducing the production of sebum, which helps oily skin. Kaolin also exfoliates dead skin and debris from the surface.
Ground Organic Aduki Beans Removes dead skin cells, polishes skin, absorbs excess oil and dirt from skin, helps stimulate areas where circulation is slow.
Evening Primrose Anti-Inflammatory, healing properties, anti-ageing properties
African Marigold Oil Antibacterial and Antifungal properties reduce skin blemishes and inflammations. A natural preservative.
Peppermint Oil Brightens moisturises and tones skin. Controls acne.
This face and body masked are packed full of all the natural ingredients needed to combat problematic skin. When used as part of a consistent skin care routine, and a healthy plant based diet, this mask can help transform your skin into a breakout skin zone. After usage, I recommend moisturising well with coconut oil.
